Author Taylor Jenkins Reid -
Romance and Historical Fiction At Its Best
Taylor Jenkins Reid’s books are everywhere! I was first introduced to her from two of my high school senior students. They were both reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and emphatically told me I had to read it immediately, if not sooner.
When my students recommend books to me, I listen. As hard as I try, teenagers are just naturally so much more in tune with everything involving pop culture than I am. They also know me and thought I would like the book – and, of course, they were right.
All of a sudden, I started seeing Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novels everywhere. She dominated my book niche social media pages, my Facebook “friends” were recommending her novels to each other, she even had a dedicated table full of her books at my local bookstore.
Taylor Jenkins Reid -
Strong Female Role Models
I love a story with a strong female protagonist, and Taylor Jenkins Reid provides. She has a beautiful way of creating independent, fierce, yet vulnerable characters, which I think is the reason that both teenagers and adults are binge-reading her novels.
And, as an English teacher and lifelong lover of stories, I am all in for an author that has us running to the bookstore! So, thank you, Taylor Jenkins Reid, for inspiring people to read more and to see the value that a good book provides.
QUICK DISCLAIMER: I have not recommended any of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s books to my high school students (although they love to talk to me about them!).
